Acne? Problem Skin?
I’ve got you covered sensitive skin types! My toner is made to be gentle yet especially effective. Removes excess oil, dirt and make-up and kills acne-causing bacteria. It also helps to balance the skin’s sebum production making it especially effective for those with acne prone, problem and/or sensitive skin.
The Ingredients
Witch Hazel
Witch hazel is widely known for its ability to ease inflammation and soothe sensitive skin. It also helps to remove excess oil and lift away debris, bacteria, and other impurities, away from the skin. Witch hazel’s natural astringency (causes skin cells to contract) will shrink enlarged pores without over-drying your skin.
Rose Water
Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the redness of irritated skin, get rid of acne, dermatitis and eczema. It is a great natural cleanser and assists in removing oil and dirt accumulated in clogged pores.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has numerous benefits for the skin including treating acne and dry skin. With its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties it helps to calm redness, swelling, and inflammation.
Lavender Oil
Lavender oil, although it contains more of the naturally occurring allergens, is one of nature’s best healers. It works to kill bacteria and simultaneously prevent and heal acne breakouts. Since lavender has anti-fungal properties and reduces inflammation, it can also help keep eczema at bay.
Isopropyl Alcohol
You have possibly heard a toner with alcohol can be a double-edged sword. This is absolutely true. Alcohols ethanol and isopropyl alcohol, are used in this toner primarily to kill acne-causing bacteria as well as to act as a preservative and help other ingredients penetrate the skin.
These alcohols can cause dryness, irritation and breakouts if they’re not used properly. You need to have a balanced moisturising routine around your use of any toner containing alcohol. This is because, although the alcohol does kill the bacteria causing the acne, it can also be really drying for the skin overall.
So, whilst I always expect I’m going to use toner twice daily after cleansing, the reality is the condition of my skin fluctuates, sometimes it gets dry or irritated easily, so around these times I only use toner once a day or every other day but I never forget to moisturise after. My skin is noticeably clearer for using a toner containing alcohol.
